School Resource Officers

Police Officers assigned to the Middle Schools and High Schools within Parkersburg are called School Resource Officers (SROs). These Officers work closely with school administrators to maintain a safe environment for all on campus.  SROs perform many duties including taking initial reports for incidents that happen on school property, providing instruction to students, working with Detectives to investigate criminal and delinquency related activities at the schools, and maintaining a safe and supportive 'police presence' within the schools.  SROs also provide a means for positive interaction with students.  Throughout the school year SROs work directly in the schools and during the summer months complete a variety of temporary assignments as needed within the Department.
